Circus Life 03:02
The circus life isn’t mine (isn’t mine) The crowd and fright I don’t mind (I don’t mind) The elephants on the fence (on the fence) They make a dent on the rent (on the rent) Fun and games Up on the stage Behind the makeup To hide my age I want a wife I want a time When I can leave The circus life The acrobats tease the cats (tease the cats) They set the traps and hold us back (hold us back) The leader calls until you fall (until you fall) The strongman always wants to brawl (wants to brawl) Fun and games Up on the stage Behind the makeup To hide my age I want a wife I want a time When I can leave The circus life I love the clowns but I am down (I’m so down) Running all around from town to town (town to town) Come see the show and you will know (you will know) That red smile is not my own (not my own) Fun and games Up on the stage Behind the makeup To hide my age I want a wife I want a time When I can leave The circus life

Popcorn 02:57
Pop and burn Release the fire Fluffed like clouds Loved and admired Four hundred degrees Trapped in the grease You still believe Popcorn is free Butter me up Put me in your cup Run in a crunch We’ve had enough Four hundred degrees Trapped in the grease You still believe Popcorn is free

Cotton Candy 02:54
Cotton candy Sugar rush Lollipop hammer to the crush Purple gummy bears Over there I can’t help but look, I swear Deny, I’m fine I lie, I’ll share a box of five With you, oh please Just give me cotton candy! Chocolate bomb Sprinkled on Like a yeti singing sweet songs Jellybeans Blue and green I see the ads in all the magazines Deny, I’m fine I lie, I need a box of five Help me, oh please! Just give me cotton candy I was sugar high, oh my I ate the whole damned box and I’m still alive! Cotton candy Or the mint? Meadows full with the scent of it To the lake full of lemonade Sit tight, wait for the train Deny, I’m fine I lie, I need a box of five Help me, oh please Just give me cotton candy!

Heartbreak Smooth ache I’ve got a coin but it’s at stake Dead wrong Then I’m gone Been playin’ around since it was dawn Doc said I should go to bed My blood runs but it’s not red The highs The lows My guess is just as good as yours And now When in doubt Just follow the wisdom of the crowd I’m tough And out of luck But I’d swallow a knife before I gave up

Moonshine 03:48
Pass me the jar From under the car Look at me now Then look at the stars Give me the moonshine I’ll throw out the wine Give me your hand And wait for the sign I’m not afraid Of what they say The moonshine will fade From night to day Under the trees Old memories Black as the night Keep us at ease Fire the gun Pig on the run Hold up your flag Wave to the sun I’m not afraid Of what they say The moonshine will fade From night to day Still like the war Same as before Dead on the ground Learn to explore Plunder it all Civility calls Answer me not Write on the walls I’m not afraid Of what they say The moonshine will fade From night to day

I didn’t wanna be a singer I didn’t even wanna play guitar So fetch like a mean girl Toned up like a question mark Like a snowflake I’m cold In a world of blood gold With a wisp of foul play Wicked, lead the way Wicked, lead the way Dark mark on my left wrist Huddled up with deathly friends Them ruby red heel clicks Can’t keep me from revenge Like a snowflake I’m cold In a world of blood gold With a wisp of foul play Wicked, lead the way I didn’t wanna be the bad witch Pickin’ off them curious kids Stuck in the gingerbread house No mercy, no plea bids Like a snowflake I’m cold In a world of blood gold With a wisp of foul play I will do it anyway Who are you to stop it now? When your heaven crashes down Live another day! Wicked, lead the way!

Joke(r) 03:45
Please, darling! Please! Don’t beg to me I wanna put a smile on your face That’s all I need Way down inside I got something to hide A madman like me don’t lie Until the dead of night I tell a joke but you ain’t laughing with me! Hide, mama! Hide! This man is wild Ragged tails and hair undone Slicked back with spite Sell! Sell your soul! This man’s alone Laughin’ at the death of mine Why? No one knows I tell a joke but you ain’t laughing with me! Fight, brother! Fight! Burn out the light Swing for the fences now Unholy might Fear only fear! The Joker’s here Take his card and be alarmed The end is near I tell a joke but you ain’t laughing with me!

I had crossed the line Jumped the ring of fire When I asked you to be mine She was beautiful In her coat of wool Back exposed in the light You and me and the bearded lady Nervous but aroused Intoxicating vows Sifted through our lips with glee Dark and sinful crows Behind a mound of clothes No one knew it was us three You and me and the bearded lady

Take Train 8 03:12
My hell rings a bell Backpack stuck up on the shelf From a time when you and I Played games and laughed until we cried On a hill we stood still Holding on to what we thought real But in the end my friend We take the train against all the wind Run away, run away Run away, take train eight Bye bye friend of mine Say hello to a strange life Full of twists, bizarre kicks Lost here and there through the mix Wish I may, wish I might Wish dreams were not just for night ‘Cause you’re alone hit or miss In a city full of wild kids Run away, run away Run away, take train eight

Sad clown In the middle of a crowd Looking only when you’re told to Cool night Trying to whisper up a fight Double-dared by a cold brew Back down With your color-coded frown Staring up to her crown Ask why And you’ll only ask twice Luck plays you for a fool You’ll see this side of me Outrage in the cage Ask her, the ringmaster Ask her, the ringmaster You’re told Oh, what do you know? Gaze down at the floor now Headstrong She screams you’re wrong Tick tock! Time runnin’ out! So red Like a bullet to the head Trying to earn my bread My my! I’m caught in a lie I swear I’ll never shout! You’ll see this side of me Outrage in the cage Ask her, the ringmaster Ask her, the ringmaster

about

The Circus Kids is a concept album that embodies the idea of a rock-n-roll circus influenced by The Rolling Stones' Rock and Roll Circus of 1968. That is, it engages various types of sounds influenced from different genres and artists. Multiple tracks serve as tributes to some of The Circus Kids' favorites, such as Queen, The Black Keys, The White Stripes, and The Strokes, but it doesn't stop there. Join them in their journey to bring the circus to a town near you!
